As settlers on this land, we acknowledge that the Lakeshore Community NPLC is located on traditional Indigenous territory honoured by the Wampum Treaties, specific to this territory is the Dish with one Spoon Wampum. We acknowledge that Wampums are agreements between the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Lenni Lenape, allied Nations AND THE SETTLERS, which includes many staff. Under these treaties, it is everyone’s responsibility to peacefully share, respect, and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We would like to acknowledge the presence of the Three Fires Confederacy (Ojibwe, Odawa, Potawatomi) and Huron/Wendat Peoples who remain on this land.
We are dedicated to learning how to provide culturally safe primary care to First Nations, Métis and Inuit people in our clinic and to rebuilding meaningful relationships with the Indigenous peoples in this territory. We commit to being advocates for Indigenous Peoples to receive culturally safe health care across Ontario.
