Social Connectedness
What is Social Connectedness?
Social Connectedness is a feeling of belonging and closeness with our network of friends, family, or community. People with a strong sense of social connectedness tend to feel very close with other people and their community and often participate in social groups and activities.1,2
Why is Social Connectedness Important for Health and Well-being?
People who have social support have better mental and physical health! Those who feel more connected have shown to have lower levels of anxiety and depression as well as greater empathy for others and higher self-esteem. Social connection can also help prevent serious illness and outcomes including heart disease, stroke, and dementia.3,4
